Mobile Signal Surveys

PolicyTracker's Signal Surveys give a real world picture of the actual mobile coverage in your area, providing essential data for regulators, industry and all levels of government.

The Signal Surveys are carried out using our SignalTracker app which collects data on upload and download speeds, signal strength, interference, mobile generation and bands used. The download speeds from our Signal Survey of central London are shown below.

Speed tests for all operators in central London

The Signal Survey can also identify coverage not-spots, compare the performance of different operators, show where 5G is available and display which frequency bands have been deployed.

This provides essential data in several professional fields:

  • Regulators
    • Get a clear picture of mobile coverage
    • Establish whether coverage obligations are being met
    • Display real-world coverage maps on your website
    • Make national and international comparisons
    • Understand which bands have actually been deployed
    • Identify under-used bands
  • Government agencies
    • Understand actual mobile coverage rather than projections
    • Idtentify the not spots where investment is needed
    • Essential foundation for discussions with operators, investors and partner organisations
  • Mobile operators
    • See the coverage customers are getting
    • Compare your coverage with other operators

The Signal Surveys can be carried out by the PolicyTracker team or signal testing kits can be installed in client vehicles such as refuse trucks. The SignalTracker app is available for free on Google Play meaning that local communities can also add their own data.
