The group provides important platforms for ICT policy and regulatory coordination, and for consolidating regional voices for international forums such as the ITU. It also organises capacity-building programs related to ICT, and several pilot projects to promote ICT development in the region.

APT also provides sub-regional platforms to facilitate achieving common interests. For example, the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council (SATRC), under the umbrella of APT, organizes working groups for policy and regulation, and spectrum to facilitate harmonization among parties concerned.

The principal organs of the Telecommunity are:

  • The General Assembly
  • The Management Committee
  • The Secretariat

There’s also the APT Preparatory Activities Work Programme which prepares for ITU WRCs and ITU-PP.
